Welcome!
We're Clark and Matilde (Didith to family and friends), the owners and your hosts at Mountainview Villa, a boutique and luxurious Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Blenheim, in the Marlborough region, the wine capital of New Zealand.
We moved to New Zealand from the Philippines in 2005 after a career in the civil service and academe for more than a decade.
We settled in Wellington, the capital, where Didith continued to work in the public sector, while Clark focused on our family businesses - ICM Trading, an import and export business; then the Grill Republic, a Filipino food truck and eatery.
We lived in the capital for 15 years and moved to Blenheim in 2020 when we fell in love with, and bought, this magnificent mountain resort. Clark is a self-taught artist and home renovator, and his handiwork can be seen in the villa and garden.
We value people and our relationships. We are passionate about helping people so we are involved in a number of community programmes. Clark has volunteered for the Filipino Chaplaincy in Wellington. Didith is a Justice of the Peace and is a board chairperson of the Marlborough Multicultural Centre, a regional endeavour. Both of us are trained emergency management volunteers, hence, we offered our home to be the community hub for the neighbourhood in case of disasters.
We love entertaining, and also cooking for guests.

Clark is a trained Chef and Didith is an avid home cook. We love to showcase our Filipino cuisine, so we offer favourite Filipino and Southeast Asian dishes in the menu options.
We source our food locally as much as we can. We grow our own veggies and fruits, and have planted native plants around the property such as kowhai, totara, manuka. We are working to one day offer 'paddock-to-plate' menus where guests can pick their own veggies and fruits from our garden. In the meantime, guests are welcome to pick whatever is growing in our garden, and collect eggs from our chooks for your breakfast.
We love to travel and experience different places and cultures. We are acutely aware of the importance of local knowledge when one travels, which is why we are sharing our own home, our local knowledge and experience to our guests at Mountainview Villa.
We can also arrange curated tour packages for you to enjoy the best that Marlborough - and the rest of Aotearoa - has to offer.
